Pharmaceutical Form: Sterile Injectable Solution.

 

Composition: Enrofloxacin 100 mg/ml.

 

Mechanism of Actions:

Enrofloxacin is bactericidal by inhibiting microbial DNA gyrase and are active against a wide range of Gram-negative bacteria, including pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella spp. and also against some Gram-Positive micro-organisms and mycoplasma spp.

 

Pharmacokinetics:

In Food- Producing animals, Serum concentrations of Enrofloxacin generally peak within 1-2 hours after dosing. Calves dosed with 2.5 mg/kg IM had concentrations of enrofloxacin present in many tissues at or above the MIC for many bacteria. The highest tissue concentrations of enrofloxacin in calves were found in the bile, urine, lung, kidney, liver, spleen, and heart between 1 and 4 hours after dosing. Lower concentrations of enrofloxacin were present in the skin, fat, muscle, bone and reproductive organs in these animals.

 

Indications:

Cattle, calves, sheep and goats: Diseases of the respiratory and alimentary tract of bacterial or mycoplasma origin (e.g. Pasteurellosis, Mycoplasmosis, Colibacillosis, Coliscepticemia and Salmonellosis) and secondary bacterial infections subsequent to viral conditions.

Dogs & cats: Enrofloxacin is indicated in the treatment of alimentary, respiratory and urogenital tracts, skin, secondary wound infections and otitis.

 

Dosage and Administration Routs:

Cattle, Calves, sheep & goats: For treatment of respiratory & alimentary tract or secondary infection: 2.5 mg per kg bodyweight eq. 1 ml per 40 kg bodyweight by subcutaneous daily for 3 day. For treatment of salmonellosis and complicated respiratory disease: 5 mg per kg bodyweight by subcutaneous daily for up to 5 days.

 

Contra Indications:

Not for use in dogs less than 1 year of age.

Normal sterile precautions should be taken.

Local tissue reactions may occasionally occur at the injection site.

 

Withdrawal time: Meat: 10 days after last treatment.

                             Milk: 84 hours after last treatment.

 

Pharmaceutical precautions:

Store below 30°C, protected from light. Do not freeze.

 

Packaging:  20 ml, 50 ml and 100 ml glass vial.
