Penemix 2+1+1

Dosage Form: Sterile Powder For Injectable Suspension

Category: Antibiotic

Composition: Each vial contains 2000,000 IU Penicillin G Benzathine + 1000,000
IU Penicillin G Procaine + 1000,000 IU Penicillin G Potassium

Mechanism of Actions:
Penicillin's exert their bactericidal effects by prevent cell wall Synthesis and disrupting  bacteria cell wall integrity.
Penicillin's impair the development of bacterial cell walls by interfering with transpeptidase enzymes responsible for the formation of the
Cross-link between peptidoglycan Strands.

Pharmacokinetics:
Most Penicillin in aqueous Solution is rapidly absorbed from Parenteral Sites. Absorption is delayed when the Sparingly Soluble repository organic salts (Benzathine penicillin) are administered parenterally. After absorption, Penicillin's are widely distributed in body fluids and tissues.  Penicillin's   are generally excreted unchanged, but fractions of a given dose may undergo metabolic transformations by unknown mechanisms. Penicillin acid derivatives that are formed tend to be allergenic. Most of Parenterrally administered penicillin is eliminated in the urine within a short time (eg, up to 90% of penicillin G within 6 hr), which results in high levels in urine.

INDICATIONS:  For the treatment of infections Caused by bacteria Sensitive to penicillin, in horses, Cattle, Sheep, dogs and cats, where long acting therapy is required. Penicillin is indicated for use in cattle and sheep in the treatment of systemic infections caused by or associated with organisms sensitive to penicillin including corynebacterium.pyogenes,Listeria, Pasteurella. haemolytica, pasteurella. multocida, staphylococcus and Streptococcus.
Penicillin is recommended, therefore, in the treatment of diseases caused by susceptible organisms including: Navel / joint-ill, respiratory tract infection including pneumonia and atrophic rhinitis, listeriosis, septicemia, urogenital tract infections and the control of secondary bacterial invaders in diseases of primary viral origin.

Dosages and administration:
Horses
: 10,000 – 50,000 IU Per kg bodyweight by intramuscular injection.
Cattle, Sheep & goat: 10,000 – 50,000 IU Per kg bodyweight by Intramuscular injection.
Dog, Cats: 20,000 – 50,000 IU Per kg bodyweight by intramuscular injection.

Adverse and Common side effects:Hypersensitivity reactions to penicillin's are the most common untoward reaction and can occur with any penicillin group. Animals treated by the penicillin should be under care for at least half hour. In case anaphylactic reaction , immediately epinephrine or antihistamine must be administered.
Allergic reactions to these substances are occasionally serious.
This drug should not be administered intravenously.

Drug Interactions:
Various penicillin's can inactivates in vitro. Probenecid markedly decreases the tubular secretion of the penicillin.

Withdrawal times:
Milk: 3 days from last treatment.
Meat: 60 days from last treatment.

Pharmaceutical precautions:
Store at room temperature, not exceeding 25OC. Protect from light. Keep out of reach of children.
