Pharmaceutical Form: Sterile injectable Solution

Composition: Vitamin A (Retinol Palmitate) 100,000 IU/ml.

MECHANISM OF ACTIONS:
Vitamin A maintains normal structure and function of epithelial cells. There appears to be gradation of Sensitivity of various epithelial surfaces to vitamin A . Another function of vitamin A is its well-defined role in The visual process. Vitamin A is necessary for Spermatogenesis in males and maintenance of pregnancy in females . Another defined function of vitamin A is Support of osteoblastic activity and bone growth .

PHARMACOKINETICS:
Vitamin A and the carotenes are absorbed from the intestines only when adequate fat, bile salts, and pancreatic enzyme are present. After absorption the vitamin passes in to the lymph and so into the circulation where it may be found as esters of the fatty acids, the free alcohol, and protein – bound carotene. The majority of any one dose is stored in the liver, which normally contains about 95% of the vitamin A in the body.

INDICATIONS:
Vitamin A is indicated for the Prevention and the treatment of vitamin A deficiencies including: increased keratinization of epithelial surfaces or as keratinization of mucus – secreting surfaces such as the respiratory or gastrointestinal tract .Night blindness, xerophthalmia, blindness, and infertility, prevention of abortion, excessive lacrimation, and corneal keratinization may also occur with deficiency.

Dosages:
Cattle: 3-5 ml, Calves & foals: 2 ml
Sheep & goats: 0.25 – 0.5 ml.
Prevention: 40 IU per kg body weight

Administration Routs:
The product is administered by intramuscular injection only.

ADVERSE AND COMMON SIDE EFFECTS:
Toxicity can occur with excess dietary or parenteral supplementation, with clinical signs resembling deficiency states. A small local reaction may occur at the site of injection but this should disappear after a short period.

Contra-Indication, warning, etc:
In hypervitaminosis there is hyperesthesia and ageing of the epiphyses cartilages. Animals may also show signs of lethargy, colic, brittle hoofs and nails and in the blood a a raised erythrocyte sedimentation rate. Do not use in human.

Withdrawal time :Injection of vitamin A should be stopped before 60 days before slaughtering

Pharmaceutical Precautions: Store below 30° C and protected from light .Do not freeze.
