Mechanism of Actions:

In the Cell, phosphate is of functional relevance to intermediary metabolism via phosphorylations, of Structural significance as membrane phospholipids and is most important in energy transfer via the energy – rich phosphate bond. It occurs in nucleic acids and nucleotides also.
PHARMACOKINETICS:
Phosphate is absorbed actively from the acid environment of the upper small intestine , But in order to prevent the formation of insoluble salts the phosphate: Calcium Concentrations need to be correct. Absorption from the gut and proximal tubules is increased by vitamin D. Parathormone regulates the excretion of phosphate via the kidney by inhibiting its resorption by the renal tuble. Most of the phosphate in the body is present, with Calcium, in the mineral component of bones and teeth.
INDICATIONS:
Phosphorus is indicated for the prevention and the treatment of metabolic disturbance of due to changes calcium and phosphor metabolism including rickets in young growing animal and osteomalacia in adult animal, pica, parturient paresis, impaired weight gain, infertility and lameness.
Dosages:
Cattle, Horses: 30 – 50 ml.
Sheep, goats: 2.5 – 5 ml.
Administration Routs:
This drug should be administered by slow intravenous or deep intramuscular.
Contra – indication, warnings etc:
Do not use in hyperphosphataemic patients.
This preparation is highly irritant, and perivascular leaks must be avoided. For animal treatment only.
