Category: Anti- haemprotozoans Drugs
Pharmaceutical Form: Sterile Injectable Solution
Composition:Imidocarb Dipropionate 120 mg/ml (12%w/v) ~Imidocarb 85 mg /ml
Mechanism of Actions
It appears that Imidocarb acts directly on the parasite, causing an alteration in number and size of nuclei and in morphology. The antiparasitic activity of the aromatic diamidines may be related to interference with aerobic glycolysis as well as interference with synthesis of deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) in the parasite
PHARMACOKINETICS
Imidocarb is absorbed rapidly following subcutaneous administration. Imidocarb was found to be bound to plasma protein and detectable amounts were found in all major tissues up to weeks after intramuscular administration. The major rout of excretion appears to be in the urine, although 10% is excreted in the faeces. Imidocarb is excreted unchanged
